Vijay Ramani has been a Consultant Urological Surgeon at The Manchester University Foundation Trust and The Christie since 1999. Prior to this he completed his urological training in London, Cardiff and the North West of England followed by travelling fellowships to USA and Germany.
Vijay pioneered the development of Robotic surgery in the North of England in 2008 and following its tremendous success led the acquisition of two robots at The Christie, establishing its position as a comprehensive cancer centre. He is a key opinion leader in urological oncology and one of few high volume Robotic Prostatectomy Surgeons nationally.
In addition to his wealth of experience in all aspects of general urology, Vijay is widely regarded as an expert in urological oncology, specialising in Robotic Prostatectomy, Robotic Partial Nephrectomy, advanced Renal cancer surgery and Testis cancer Surgery. He has a major interest in diagnostics including prostate biopsy, male lower urinary tract symptoms and haematuria.
Vijay is passionate about teaching, training and research. He is a national / International mentor in Robotic Surgery and has several publications in urological oncology. He is a lecturer for the European School of Urology and delivers many lectures across the world in prostate cancer / urological oncology. He has and continues to Chair various international symposia including the prostate cancer module for pan European Urology Residents and the BPH course for European Association of Urology.
When he is not working, Vijay can usually be found enjoying time with his family, reading, doing yoga and sharpening his tennis skills.
