Private cancer care

September 7, 2021 in Uncategorized

Private cancer care means that patients pay for their treatment rather than going through the NHS. At Urology Clinics Manchester we treat a number of different urological conditions including urological cancers.

Unfortunately, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the wait time for patients with cancer in the NHS has gone up significantly. You may have already heard in the news that the waiting time is the highest it has ever been in the NHS.

If you have recently been diagnosed with cancer or are waiting for diagnostic tests for cancer you may want to consider private healthcare. Private cancer care is done in exactly the same way, just with much smaller wait times.

How can you pay for private cancer care?

Private healthcare can be paid for in two ways, through insurance or self-funding. While we appreciate that this is not an option available for every patient, we believe that if you are able to have private health, now is the time to use it.

This will help to speed up your treatment time and also remove some of the stress from the NHS.

What benefits can I expect with Private Medical Insurance?

If you decide that private medical insurance is for you then you can expect a number of benefits. You will receive treatment in top-notch facilities without any of the waiting times associated with the NHS for any acute conditions you develop after your policy goes live.

Private Health Insurance offers access to cutting edge drugs, treatments and procedures that may not yet be available on the NHS due to cost.

This can be particularly valuable when it comes to cancer care, where the drugs and therapies involved are often very expensive and may therefore not always be licensed for use by the NHS for this reason.

Many policies also provide you with access to a second medical opinion service, putting some of the world’s best oncologists at your disposal to share their expertise regarding your treatment.

European Association of Urology – EAU21

July 12, 2021 in Uncategorized

The EAU21 Virtual Congress will take place from 8-12 July 2021, offering a five-day, cutting-edge scientific programme. EAU21 includes plenary, game-changing, thematic, award, abstract and video sessions and will be complemented with ESU courses and industry sessions.

This year EAU21 will combine remote speakers and participants with moderation and discussion (where possible) in a live studio environment. This has the benefit of more interaction during panel discussions and a more engaging viewing experience for delegates.

Although the congress was meant to be taking place in Milan, due to COVID it has now been re-organised and the event is set to be virtual.

The team at Urology Clinics Manchester are presenting the following at this years EAU:

  • Saphenous sparing ascending video-endoscopic inguinal lymph node dissection (VEILND-AS+) using a leg approach: Surgical technique, perioperative and pathological outcomes.
  • Radical hemiscrotectomy and en-block orchidectomy: Surgical technique, perioperative and oncologic outcomes of a supra-regional UK referral centre.
  • Outcomes in men undergoing complex circumcision: An aid to consent and litigation.
  • Treatment options and outcomes of men with Penile Intraepithelial Neoplasia (PeIN): A systematic review.
  • Localised activation of the EMT switch by peri-neural invading epithelial cells in prostate cancer.
  • Systematic treatments: How to choose the right treatment for the right patient.
  • Actualising new models of healthcare service delivery in prostate cancer.
  • Workstream 3: Rare oncological urology and metrics: Our road to success.
  • Penile and testis cancer.
  • Challenges in genital cancer surgery.

We are grateful to be able to present at this years EAU Congress.

Professor Vijay Sangar & Mr Jeremy Oates to present to over 1000 delegates at the ESOU20 meeting.

January 17, 2020 in Uncategorized

Our very own Professor Vijay Sangar & Mr Jeremy Oates are currently on route to the ESOU20 meeting in Dublin where over 1,100 delegates will be attending to have the opportunity to connect with leading experts.

For this edition of this cutting-edge meeting, the organising committee has prepared a programme that reflects the state of the art of oncology in urology and places the ESOU meeting as a European reference in the field.

With new members in the ESOU Board, this will be a special year. A solid scientific programme has been composed and shall be presented by a high-profile academic body, well known throughout Europe. In addition to the best expertise in urology, this year the ESOU meeting welcomes new formats that will stimulate the scientific debate on a broader field. It will mix round-table discussions, scientific lectures, rapid-fire presentation and specific lectures (European Urology Oncology, ASCO, EAU guidelines), all delivered with an interactive approach.

By attending the ESOU meeting, delegates will have the opportunity to connect with leading experts, many of whom are key opinion leaders from around the world who are dedicated to resolving clinical challenges and developing new approaches. Delegates participation will allow them to obtain insights into the most recent developments and showcase their commitment to keeping up to date with the evolution of science.

Not forgetting the very successful STEPS programme, now celebrating its 10th anniversary. STEPS aims to boost links with promising young clinicians specialising in urological cancers.  This session allows specially selected young urologists to have face-to-face and round table discussions of oncological cases with European key opinion leaders.
